Size guide

Measure a piece you already love

This is the most reliable thing you can do, and it works whatever the label says. Lay a piece you already wear flat, buttoned or fastened: a kurta, a blouse, an anarkali, whichever is closest to what you are buying. Measure straight across the chest from one underarm seam to the other, and double it: that is the garment's bust measurement. Do the same for its length, from the highest point of the shoulder straight down to the hem. Then match those two numbers to the piece you are looking at.

Indian ready-to-wear labels are not standardised, and two brands both printing "L" can differ by two inches. Where a supplier states a garment length we print it on the product page, exactly as they wrote it and in their own units. Where they do not, we leave it out rather than estimate it.

Two labels that confuse people

Some brands label a kurta with a number, like "44 (US L)". That number is the bust in inches, so match it to the bust column above.

Sarees are one size. The blouse piece is unstitched unless the product says otherwise, and where a supplier states that, we print it on the product page.
